Welcome to the Disability Advocacy Centre!
The Access Association of Disabled Students is dedicated to the full and equal participation of students with disabilities in all aspects of university life. You will find our founding chapter, Access Uvic on the main floor of the Student Union Building at the University of Victoria. We are a cross - disability alliance of disabled students. We advocate for increased awareness, inclusion and accessibility for all people with disabilities on campus and in society.
Today, increasing numbers of disabled students are gaining entrance to universities; yet significant architectural, instructional and social barriers to our equal participation remain. The purpose of Access! is to lead the way to a barrier free and fully accessible university that promotes and protects the rights and dignity of disabled students, staff and faculty.
All members of the university community are welcome to visit our Centre, use our library, attend our events and access our advocacy services. We are your Disability Advocacy Centre. We invite you to share in our goals and aspirations and take pride in our accomplishments.
The Access Association of Disabled Students is an independently incorporated non-profit society
in British Columbia, Canada.
